Meet Laura
Laura Kaufman grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and received a BFA in Dance from the University of Arizona. She recently performed in the production of Sugar Hill Nutcracker directed and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse and is currently dancing at The Metropolitan Opera. Laura is co-director of Woman in Motion, a project-based dance company in NYC. Previously she spent a year on the road with the Broadway tour of CATS following a year with the first national tour of An American in Paris. Prior to her time on tour, Laura danced with City Ballet of San Diego followed by Odyssey Dance Theatre in SLC where she performed many principal roles and did two international tours.
She has danced works by Christopher Wheeldon, Andy Blankenbuehler, Joshua Bergasse, Caleb Teicher, Lorin Latarro, Alexei Ratmansky, George Balanchine, Martha Graham, Bonnie Story, Derryl Yeager, Betsey Wistrich, Michael Tevlin, Gary Christ, Ann Reinking, and many others. While in Salt Lake City, Laura taught for the Ballet West Academy as well as company class for Odyssey. She currently teaches at BDC, Steps on Broadway, Ballet Arts, and holds her own open classes around the city. Laura is a versatile dancer and teacher and thrives on being immersed in many aspects of the dance world.
